The settlers & natives of PA remembered events during the Revolutionary War in a way far different from the settlers & natives of NY, especially tales about the Battle of Wyoming & General Sullivan’s expedition into Iroquois territory. Professor Andrea Smith of Lafayette College will tell how Sullivan’s mission was a catastrophic invasion for one side & a sweeping victory for the other. She details how historic road markers & patriotic fanfare have shaped our view of history & challenges some interpretations of this long, tangled history.
