Two-Part Lecture & Discussion with Carol Rubel: Hamnet Day 1 of 2

Thursday, April 9 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm

Join us for a thoughtful two-part lecture and discussion of Hamnet, led by educator and literary guide Carol Rubel. This series invites participants to explore the novel’s rich emotional landscape, historical context, and lyrical storytelling.

Across two sessions, we will examine themes of grief, love, marriage, creativity, and loss, while unpacking O’Farrell’s imaginative reworking of history and her evocative portrayal of family life in 16th-century England. Through close reading and guided conversation, Carol will encourage reflection, shared insight, and deeper appreciation of the novel’s structure, language, and lasting impact.

Following the final discussion, participants are invited to stay for a screening of the film adaptation at The Gathering Place, offering a chance to experience the story in a new medium and continue the conversation together.
