The more stringent sect\, Puritans\, framed our national conscience with their attitudes\, restrictions\, and general intolerance for anything viewed outside their norm. \nFew literary works do a better job of bringing us smack into the duality of what life in a Puritan colony was really like than does Nathaniel Hawthorne’s classic work\, The Scarlet Letter.
