We all learned this back in grade school…right? \nBut is that all they bequeathed to us? \nMaybe not! The more stringent sect\, Puritans\, framed our national conscience with their attitudes\, restrictions\, and general intolerance for anything viewed outside their norm. \nFew literary works do a better job of bringing us smack into the duality of what life in a Puritan colony was really like than does Nathaniel Hawthorne’s classic work\, The Scarlet Letter. Following a guided discussion of the novel\, we’ll gather a second time to view the Demi Moore film adaptation. \nWhile reading the novel is encouraged\, don’t let the work’s size or style keep you away as we will provide a synopsis sufficient to let you both appreciate the major themes as well as use them for a springboard into their contemporary application. \nOctober 15th & 22nd \,12-1:30pm $5 /class \n \nIf you have not read this or are thinking you might not be able to read it totally…come anyway!
