Sondra Myers earned a BA in philosophy from Connecticut College and honorary degrees from Misericordia College and the University of Scranton. In recent years she served as the director of The Schemel Forum at the University of Scranton. A frequent speaker and writer on the arts, humanities and civil society, Myers focuses on two major themes:  The integration of culture into public policy in the US and the strengthening of democracy worldwide. 

Her newest book is Dear Reader:  Selected Letters to the Editor of The Scranton Times Tribune.  

Over the last 15 years Myers has been in  communication with readers of  the local newspaper with her letters to the editor. The letters are opinion pieces; they invite readers who have opinions of their own to express them. Opinions run the whole gamut from solid agreement to fierce disagreement.
