Open the Dialogue

Open the Dialogue: A Substance Abuse Awareness Series

In collaboration with the Gathering Place in Clarks Summit, and sponsored by: Bradford Recovery Center, One Point, Inc., Rotary Club of the Abingtons, the Wright Center and the Tour de Scranton 15.

A committee of concerned Clarks Summit residents, led by Maureen Conahan, Beth Florey, and Anne Armezzani are opening the dialogue concerning the drug epidemic that is plaguing our communities and our country. Our mission is to facilitate a dialogue among caretakers with children in grades 5-12 and beyond by presenting a series of drug awareness programs. Our hope is that through this process, we can begin to eliminate the stigma that is the hallmark of this national emergency. In addition, OTD speakers and sponsors will be prepared to provide information/resources to families in need. Coroner Timothy Rowland states, “To stop this epidemic, we need parents of young children engaged in prevention.”

The four part series is balanced with prevention education experts, medical experts, legal experts, recovery professionals, and people in recovery.

Featured speakers include:
Lackawanna County President Judge Michael Barrasse
Clearbrook Treatment Centers – Joe Kane
The Wright Center – Scott Constantini
Pharmacist and Advocate – Thomas DePietro
Voluntary Action Center – Jeffrey Thomas
Coroner – Timothy Rowland
EOTC Family Therapist – Emily McDonald
