This series is dedicated to opening the dialogue concerning the drug epidemic that is plaguing our communities. Open the Dialogue’s mission is to facilitate a dialogue among caretakers with children in grades 5-12 and beyond – children ages 12 and up are welcome to attend. Our hope is that through this four part series, we can begin to eliminate the fear, secrecy, shame, and stigma that are the hallmarks of this national emergency. We don’t have all of the answers, but opening the dialogue is the key to eliminating the stigma surrounding substance misuse and to end the drug epidemic in our communities.
Part 4 explores a variety of topics related to helping families engage in substance abuse awareness and prevention.
“To stop this epidemic, we need parents of young children engaged in prevention. “
-Timothy Rowland, Lackawanna County Coroner
